About Gonstead Chiropractic

Updated: Feb 27, 2020

Gonstead Chiropractic is known to be one of the best among currently existing chiropractic techniques. It is known to be a technique that adheres most strictly to traditional chiropractic as defined by D.D. Palmer, the founder of chiropractic. It is a way to diagnose and treat abnormal spine displacement through precise exam and analysis. Due to the difficulty of learning the technique as well as demands for continual research, only 2% of chiropractors worldwide participate in research and treatment methods for Gonstead chiropractic.

Dr. Clarence S. Gonstead (1898-1978) started his first treatment in 1923 at Mt. Horeb, Wisconsin with a population of 1,200. Soon after, reports of his amazing treatments began to spread over and beyond the United States and all over the world. Countless people experienced the miraculous treatment through his hands. He treated over a hundred patients a day from early morning till late nights for six days a week. The number of cases he treated and left as clinical results were over hundreds of thousands. To the present day, his clinical cases are regarded as the most valuable resources in chiropractic history. Even after his death, research is done and cases are published continuously through the Gonstead Seminar.

In 1964 the construction of Gonstead Chiropractic Clinic was completed, which still is known as the biggest chiropractic clinic in the world through history and into the present day. With a total of 22 thousand square feet, the clinic could hold over 100 patients on standby at one time and consisted of 11 adjustment rooms and X-ray exam rooms as well as a physiological laboratory and an academic conference room. A total of 78 wards allowed patients from afar to stay overnight and get treated. Thereafter, Dr. Gonstead and his staff were able to treat a total of 400 patients daily.

Dr. Gonstead also created the Gonstead Seminar and the Research Center to train the younger generation. As a leader for his many followers, he made great contributions in making known chiropractic clinics and research.

Currently only 2% of chiropractors worldwide use the traditional Gonstead System. All Gonstead chiropractors work hard to improve patients’ health by finding and adjusting V.S.C. (Vertebral Subluxation Complex), or spinal misalignments, through the same analysis across the board.
